Bushcraft: survival in the woods
Bushcraft, an ancient art of survival and connection with nature, offers a compelling journey that goes beyond simply learning survival techniques.
It is an experience that allows us to rediscover our primordial connection with our surroundings while learning the basics of living in harmony with nature.
With this activity we will teach you how to start a fire with just the help of a tinder box and material found in nature, how to build a shelter in case of emergency, and how to read and learn about the forest and its secrets.
1. Practical Knowledge: Bushcraft teaches us a wide range of practical skills, from fire-starting techniques without the aid of matches or lighters, to the art of building temporary shelters using natural materials. Learning to recognise edible plants, how to find one's way around without the aid of modern tools, and how to purify water are just some of the essential notions one acquires through this practice.
2. Connection with Nature: One of the most profound experiences in Bushcraft is the intimate connection with nature. Through careful observation of one's surroundings, one develops a sense of awareness and respect for the natural world. By learning to read the clues left by wildlife, to recognise the elements of the landscape and to understand the language of nature, a unique connection with one's surroundings is created.
3. Emotions and Authenticity: Bushcraft offers an opportunity to return to one's roots, to experience life in a more authentic and immediate way. Through carrying out daily activities without the support of modernity, one experiences a sense of fulfilment and self-sufficiency that goes far beyond mere survival. The emotions that emerge from these experiences are authentic, connected to the earth and natural rhythms.
4. Creativity and Adaptability: Bushcraft requires creativity and adaptability. The ability to utilise available resources efficiently, create rudimentary tools and adapt to environmental challenges contributes to developing a flexible and resilient mindset. These skills are not only useful in the wilderness, but also translate into valuable resources for dealing with the challenges of everyday life.
